Pre-Kindergarten
TCA Arshag Dickranian Armenian School's Pre-Kindergarten program is designed for
young pupils who are 2.5 - 4 years old. The
school believes that each child's self-esteem is crucial to healthy,
intellectual social growth. The Pre-K program currently has two very well qualified and experienced
teachers.
At TCA Arshag Dickranian School, children in the Pre-K program experience much of their learning through
"hands-on" activities and active play. The teachers provide the children with
gear and equipment that offer them the opportunity to develop their
pre-literacy, pre-math, language, cognitive, motor, emotional and social skills
by allowing them to learn through playing with blocks, painting, creating with
crafts, looking at books, and riding tricycles in the playground, among other
activities. In practicing this thought, the Pre-K program aims to prepare
children who are socially adept, highly motivated and ready to learn about the
world around them.
Kindergarten
The Kindergarten program adheres to the concepts of the Pre-K program and
believes that successful learning is based on the child's level of
readiness. The Kindergarten curriculum is designed to develop the child's verbal skills, reading and writing ability,
mathematics, phonics, environment and science. The Kindergarten program aims to
provide a nurturing environment in which the developmental needs of each child are
met.
Ms. Anahid Avanessian has over 30 years of experience in working with
children at the Kindergarten level and holds a Bachelor's Degree in Foreign Languages from Melli
University in Teheran. She has been working for TCA Arshag Dickranian
School since its establishment in 1981.
The Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten programs introduce the basics of
English and Armenian languages to the children. Both programs use selected
textbooks that arouse curiosity and love of learning. The children also receive daily nutrition services and
naps in a pleasant environment.
